D.A.R.E. with Officer Powell on Wednesday;

Guidance with Judy Meyers Thursday;

Computer Lab on Thursday-Mrs. Powell has been teaching the students correct hand positions for using the computer instead of using the "hunt and peck" method of typing.

This week she will teach research skills and how to cite references. This is VERY IMPORTANT since in Social Studies we will be doing research projects throughout the year.

M.A.Z.E.-students are apprised of missing assignments; if they do not turn in this work, they will be issued a MAZE ticket on TUESDAY. If work is still not turned in, they must report to afterschool detention on Wednesday.

THIS WEEK:

Reading---begin novel study, Follow my Leader, Chapters 1-11 :Study vocabulary and the comprehension questions. Listen to the class discussion. .TEST FRIDAY AR-students should be reading their AR book at home at least 30 minutes each night. Each student wwe given a point goal for the 9 weeks and a minimum starting level on which to choose an AR book to read.
Language/ English- simple subject and predicate; Daily Oral Language (correcting sentences); narrative compositions; compound subjects, predicated, and sentences

Spelling-Unit. 4 TEST FRIDAY; practice work also due Friday(this is 3 times each, alphabetical order, definitions, sentences-if not finished in class, it is to be finished at home; a weekly spelling list is provided on Monday; I have paperback dictionaries the students may borrow if you do not have access to a dictionary at home)

Math -Daily Math-Problem of the Day, Everyday Math Counts; review and quiz on multiplication facts (5's, 6's); Decimals-place value through thousandths; comparing and ordering decimals-QUIZ TUESDAY; TEST WEDNESDAY, CHAPTER 1, PART A (online access to textbook available); mental math; rounding

Social Studies-
map skills- latitude and longitude--be ready for daily grades; Vocabulary test Tuesday on these terms: Prime Meridian, symbols, globe, longitude, latitude, map key(or legend), Equator, Cardinal directions, Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Hemisphere; intermediate directions, scale--daily geography-we will work on Daily Geo # 2 in class-homework if not finished; we will also begin in the textbook on ancient peoples of North America
