Notes from Ms. Hebert

Remember: March 12th is Teacher's Record Day. Students do not have school.



Reading: We will finish Cricket in Times Square. Test on chapters 10-12 will be Wednesday, March 10th . Vocabulary that will be tested will be: luminous; despair; amateur; reproach; rodent; vaudeville; jink; implore; wrenched; dwindled

Language: We will continue to practice writing paragraphs with a topic sentence; detail sentences and a concluding sentence. We will identify articles in sentences. We will identify proper adjectives in sentences. We will identify pairs or words as synonyms or antonyms.

Spelling: Test will be Thursday March 11th. The spelling words for this week are farmer; skater; painter; camper; listener; banker; owner; learner; hiker; catcher; speaker; climber; player; reader; baker; dreamer; reporter; singer; builder; leader

Math: Test on Lessons 7.4-7.7 will be on Thursday, March 11th. Please see study guide. We will find the average mean of a set of numbers, lesson 7-12 pages 404-405. We will divide multiples of 10; 100 and 1000 by multiples of 10, lesson 7-13 pages 406-407. We will recognize a plane figure has two dimensions; length and width; and a solid figure has three dimensions: length; width; and height, lesson 8-1 pages 434-435. Also we will have a math quiz on multiplication and division on Friday.

Social Studies: Test on chapter 5 will be on Wednesday, March 10th. Please see study guide. We will identify and describe major landforms in the southeast, pages 166-169. We will practice using an elevation map, pages 170-171. We will describe the climate of the southeast, pages 172-173.

Science: We will identify some instincts that help animals meet their needs and provide two examples of learned behavior. We will identify the basic parts that make up the body. Explain how the skeletal and muscular systems work. We will identify the basic parts that make up the whole body.
