Notes from Mr. Dietrich

There will be no school on Monday, September 6th.

-Remember, MAZE starts this Wednesday!

- Please remember that dates and plans should be considered tentative… things change!

Proposed Schedule for this Week

Science:
-At the beginning of the week, we will be doing an activity that explores the amount of energy used in a chemical reaction over time.
-Throughout the week, we will be reading out of the textbook and working on several of the review questions from it.
-Later in the week, we will be discussing types of mixtures, and will be making a poster of the three main types of mixtures, and a second informative poster about physical and chemical properties.
-Check the homework board every day for assignments!
-Review vocabulary, worksheets, and notes nightly!

Math:
-This week, we will continue working out of the Prime Time math booklet, focusing on factor pairs, arrays, and prime factorizations.
-For additional practice, we will work on problems from the textbook on the above topics.
-On Friday, we will begin discussing and working on the "Mystery Number" cards, which will contain 5 facts about a random number. These will be used later on in a whole group guessing game.
-Check the homework board every day for assignments!
-Review vocabulary, worksheets, and notes nightly!

Social Studies:
-This week, we will continue looking at early humans and civilizations. For this, we will be working out of the textbook and the worksheet packet that goes along with it.
-In addition to this, we will watch a United Streaming video and write down, share, and discuss some of the information from it.
-In addition to this, we will look at some of the cave paintings of Lascaux, and each student will make his/her own replica of this art.
-On Thursday, we will be reviewing information about early civilizations and basic social studies concepts for a quiz the following day.
-There will be a quiz on Friday!
-Check the homework board every day for assignments!
-Review vocabulary, worksheets, and notes nightly!
