| Proposed
Schedule for this Week
Science: -The
class will be continuing with, and expanding upon, our research on forms of energy
and how they transform. -Students will be discussing and looking for different
transformations of energy that occur in their everyday lives. -We will be watching
one or two videos of "Rube Goldberg Contraptions," which are series
of energy transformations that end up accomplishing a very basic task. -Students
will be working with their table groups to begin designing, gathering materials
for, and planning their own Rube Goldberg contraptions that they will build after
the Thanksgiving break. -At the end of the week, the class will be doing some
research and experimentation with cranberries and measuring their freshness. -Check
the homework board every day for assignments! -Review vocabulary, worksheets,
and notes nightly! Math: -The
students will be continuing to work with graphs, and especially coordinate and
line graphs. This will include using the data in a graph to find the mean, median,
and mode of the data. -Students will be reading and working out of both the
textbook and the "Data about Us" booklets to research and then practice
working with coordinate graphs and line graphs. -For practice with the coordinate
plane and graphs, students will be working with their peers to gather data from
the class to create such graphs. -Students will also work with a partner to
interpret information shown in a coordinate graph, and then answer a set of questions
on that data. -Later in the week we will do a bit of review of graphs, and
then work through a set of situation problems to review PACE, division, multiplication,
etc. -Check the homework board every day for assignments! -Review vocabulary,
worksheets, and notes nightly! Social
Studies: -The class will be continuing our unit on Ancient China, and will
be watching a United Streaming video and reading from the textbook. -We will
be learning about Confucius and some of his ideas, and will be interpreting and
discussing some of those. -In the middle of the week, the students will have
the opportunity to try and use chopsticks, and also sample a bit of Chinese food
and drink. -Later in the week the students will choose between one of a few
Chinese historical figures, and will then create an informative poster on one
of them. -Check the homework board every day for assignments! -Review vocabulary,
worksheets, and notes nightly!
